5 Nigerian Artistes Who Need To Drop A Hit Song In 2018, Else They Might Be Forgotten

The Nigerian entertainment industry keeps getting entries day by day. Several upcoming artistes are looking for ways to break in and replace the dormant ones.

The dormant ones who have failed to give the fans what they want “Hit singles” back to back.

Giving hit singles is the only way to remain relevant or else an artiste risk losing followership to other artistes who release hit singles.

Simply put, Hit singles is the oxygen for survival in the entertainment industry.

Without hit, an artiste career might deteriorate and eventually die. You should ask Sean Tizzle who has refused to give us an hit or Davido who keeps increasing his fan base with back to back hit singles.

Below are artistes who need to give us a hit single in 2018.

1. Yemi Alade

Yemi on this list? Don’t be surprised. It’s because she has been giving us shitty music.

Music with stupid titles. Tum Bum, what’s the meaning of that?

Late last year, Yemi Alade released her third studio album and not even one hit track?? Whereas her contemporaries have been giving us hits back to back through singles and collaborations, Yemi has failed to do.

What she feeds us is Tum Bum music all year round. No evolution in any way. Her lyrics game is wack.

Yemi can repeat a line 10 times in a song and her song has no verse or chorus. The chorus is the verse and the second verse is still part of the chorus.

The last hit we heard from Yemi was Johnny, her only hit till date. Whilst Tiwa Savage and Simi have been bringing their A-game to the scene, giving us back to back hit.

Yemi keeps looking from afar, clueless and has nothing to give to the fans. We need a hit from you, Yemi!!!

2. Davolee

Has anybody heard from Uncle Davolee in recent times. Seems his well of punchlines has dried up.

Giving his antecedent as a hustler on the street, he came on board as someone with a tanker load of punchlines and hits.

So what has been stalling his career? His inability to conform to the industry’s requirements.

Fact is you might be talented, but if you don’t possess the techniques, you can’t blow! There was a time Wizkid was doing RnB when he discovered that Afro Beat needed someone to fill in the gap, Baba Nla changed game asap!

That’s what is wrong with Davolee? He has to unearth the secret to a hit song.

Davolee just drops a song filled with punchlines without no style or direction. Go and ask Ola Dips if he has blown with that style. We need a hit bruh!

3. Dremo

Joining Mayorkun in 2016 as part of the newly formed DMW, Dremo has everything he needed to actually succeed instead of Mayorkun.

For facts sake, Mayorkun was just starting up but Dremo had been in the industry for a while. He had been on some collaborations and freestyles with DJs and Producers before he got signed.

He had recorded his own version of Panda and that stuff went viral.

He finally got his big break in 2016 when he got signed. Now, we expected more hits from Dremo but what we saw was a lazy Dremo, he won’t release songs and when he finally released, his songs were like infertile sperm.

Dead On Arrival! It didn’t make much impact. A frustrated fan had to write a letter to up his game. Still no hits.

All records he gave to fans were slept on. In 2018, Dremo has to give us a hit else….. 🤔

Dremo is way too talented. Who saw his freestyle session on Hennessy Cypher?

Bros, if it is to go to Mayorkun and beg him to write a song for you, please do or else you risk joining Iyanya and Ice Prince at the relegation zone or you might even be booted out of DMW like Ichaba.

4. Viktoh

We honestly don’t know if Viktoh is still interested in doing music or continue with his Video vixen career 😂😂 because from Day One, he seemed not to be interested in the advancement of his music career.

Viktoh, your friend Lil Kesh was signed after you and yet he still blow pass you? 😂😂

The problem with Viktoh’s career is undefined as we obviously don’t know the cause of his decline.

Has Viktoh ever dropped a hit single?

If you’re thinking of that single with Lil Kesh that didn’t even last up to a month before it faded out, please shift.

Example of a hit song is Fia! If Viktoh is still interested in achieving much with his career, he needs to get serious. He needs to find the perfect sound, get a manager and also a PR team.

For now, his career is dead and he needs a hit song to resurrect it!

5. Dija

Sometimes we truly wonder if Dija was the artiste Olamide tried to do a collaboration with.

She has never given us a hit. Oooh, she gave us Awww. But that was 2015, this is 2018 and we haven’t seen anything.

Wait!! What happened to the Dija of 2015?

She got married, had a child and attempted a comeback but hey, all her efforts were fruitless.

She released an album recently but no one seemed to be talking about it. Many of us are not even aware she dropped an Album. That means it was devoid of hits.

Dija, you need to give us a hit single in 2018. If it is collaborating with Wizkid and Davido on one song, please do it. Or else, your career will keep suffering in silence.
